NeuraLink AI recently received Breakthrough Device Designation from the FDA for Blindsight. Join their quest to bring back sight to those who have lost it. The company provides enhanced BCI solutions to people with certain neurological conditions so that they could easily regain their independence. Its main product is the N1 Implant that will enable you to control computers and mobile devices with your mind.
The N1 Implant is a small device implanted just under the scalp. It is cosmetically invisible and powered wirelessly by a rechargeable battery, thus being very unobtrusive to use without any real external connectors. This implant uses flexible, ultra-thin threads inserted into the brain through the robotic surgery system. Those threads record neural activity and send that data to an external device, which will transform those signals into actions, moving a cursor or typing on-screen.
The game-changing feature of Neuralink AI technology is the life-changing capability it will provide to quadriplegics-by giving them the power to control digital devices using their thoughts. “Neuralink’s goal is not simply to improve interaction with devices but rather to restore vision and motor capability among other things. Currently, it is conducting its PRIME Study, in which human trials have already begun, hence this constitutes a milestone event within BCI technology.
Neuralink works tirelessly on improving this interface regarding access, safety, and reliability while planning to use their technology more widely in the years to come. As it aims to restore autonomy to individuals with paralysis we hope they will succeed with it and ultimately enhance human abilities through the direct connection between brains and digital devices.
